Super Cool SCP Hotels (Soul Community Planet) ventures into Hawaii

Soul Community Planet (SCP) has purchased the 138-room Hilo Seaside Hotel, located in Hilo, Hawaii Big Island. The hotel will undergo a US$4.6 million renovation and reopen as the SCP Hotel Hilo on June 1. The seaside property was founded by Hawaiian native Richard Kimi in 1956 and was continually operated by the Kimi family until this acquisition. Adding to the recently completed renovations of the hotel’s open-air lobby, pool and other public areas, SCP’s planned renovation scope will include updating guest rooms and bathrooms, the introduction of several new suites, along with the addition of the SCP’s signature ‘Peaceful Rooms’. Also planned is the addition of an SCP Provisions market, which will offer plant-forward, locally sourced food and drink.

SCP, as they call it themselves “holistic hospitality” is a super cool mini chain of all things now. Soul Community Planet was born out of a vision to help make the world a better place by serving those who value personal wellness, social good and the environment. Their hand-crafted venues feature reclaimed wood, living green walls, exposed brick and hand-painted murals, which unite earth-friendly and socially responsible practices.

Venues are recycled (their first hotel in Colorado Springs a former Super8 Motel) into a combination of modern lodging accommodations -including bunk rooms-, state-of-the-art fitness facilities, dedicated yoga and meditation rooms, creative co-working spaces and ‘markets’ stocked with locally-sourced healthy, ‘vegan-forward’ natural food and beverage options.
